Help the crew of the Mary Rose solve their problems! Encourage fluency in maths by using practical skills in a fun Tudor context. Activities, appropriate to year groups, involve weighing and measuring; simple number problems; shape and space.

Maths and Science at Action Stations
In this workshop pupils can explore how aerodynamics and ballistics are used in the design of modern shells.
The session starts with a short introduction to the science of ballistics and the history of artillery. Pupils then work in teams to construct their own shell to be fired from our compressed air cannon. Pupils will use data to predict the range and impact point of their shell.

Science at Action Stations
Rocket building with a twist — test your students on the Wall Street Market rocket workshop and see how quick their financial business minds will work. Students will have to buy and sell materials in order to make their rockets. A test of nerve and skill whilst working as part of a team to achieve the best results.

History, Geography and Maths at the NMRN
Join us for an action packed activity session, in which students will be ‘trained’ for a life at sea. From calculating how many ships biscuits are needed to feed the crew each week to object handling and role play, children discover what life was like in Nelson’s Navy.
£50 per 1 hour workshop for up to 35 pupils.
Science/Maths/Design and Technology at HMS Victory
Through a range of hands-on activities pupils discover what sailors ate and how they kept clean, learning about the importance of keeping a crew healthy. They compare the diet of sailors then to what we eat now and decide who is healthier.
£50 per 1 hour for up to 30 people.
